I Love You

"I love you".

You asked me out for a date
Did the long phone chats till late
Proposed to me to be your life mate
and arranged the marriage date
But you did not say I love you mate...

You hold my hand in the walk of life
make me cross all the traffic lights,
You watch me over in the wake of light
make me choose my path with delight
But you don't say I love you my life..

My mood swings are normal
my actions become very abnormal
You handle me, You manage me..
You caress me, you comfort me..
But you don't say I love you same..

After a busy work day
I enter my personal bay
There I see a bag with my name
You Surprise me with your love games
But you do not say I Love you, dame...

You know my needs, and you obtain them..
You feel my desires, and you fulfill them..
You protect me from the evils
Make me see no devils..
But you don't say I love you special..

You see my ability, you know my capability,
You feel my soul, You touch my emotions,
You give me strength, You give me freedom
You nurture me, You complete me...
But why don't you say I love you me...

I Kept Standing there...

  I opened the door and showed him his room. His transition from sleeping in my room to his room. He clasped my hands as if never to leave me. I started negotiating with him. Telling him that he is no more a baby now. Now that he is a big boy, he must have his own room I kept standing there, convincing him to welcome his new space. He never closed his door. Festivals!! For us expats festivals have a very deep and a strong meaning. We left our country and societies and created a new world with other expats. Festivals are very nostalgic for all of us. We try to reconnect with our own selves and our cultures whenever ever the festivities arrive. As the Dubai weather cools down, the festivals celebrations starts in full swing. Every festival means new clothes, new garments. Fashion and trend changes every year and the exhibitions reflect the mood of the society. Designers flock around the city from September onwards digging deep in the buyer’s pockets. Every year these buyers go to the exhibitions and try and buy the eye catching, very unique clothing for every festive party they need to attend. “Namaste, it’s a pleasure to meet you", I greeted to an Indian lady whom I had met for the first time. "I am not a Namaste type woman, I am very happening." She replied with revulsion. “Desi” and “Behenji” are just a few of the many titles Indian girls today loathe being referred to. Certain people even dislike being greeted with a Desi salutation!  How does something simple as an ethnic greeting determine the behavior or the personality of that person? How does wishing, “Namaste!” make you less popular? I love welcoming people in “Desi Andaaz”. I consider it respectful when someone greets me with “Namaste”.
