You reflect my past, you reflect my desire..
You are my body, you are my soul
You I lived, you I wished..


You are me and I am you
You, I hold and protect..
You, I clear the path for.
You, I  challenge, you I see..
You are What I was...


You I wish I was to be.
You I could have been..
Your Laughter, Your freedom I desire,
Your innocent conversations and intellect questions I derive,
You are What I wanted to be...


You are gifted, not you know..
You are to be trained, for what u are
You are to be fame and family Pride..
You are the number One, for all you do..
You are to succeed in this world..


You are a dreamer, not you stop
You are to fly and fly high..
You live what you feel..
You are the best as you do..
You are to be happy in this world..


You are what I was, you are what I wanted to be..

I Kept Standing there...

  I opened the door and showed him his room. His transition from sleeping in my room to his room. He clasped my hands as if never to leave me. I started negotiating with him. Telling him that he is no more a baby now. Now that he is a big boy, he must have his own room I kept standing there, convincing him to welcome his new space. He never closed his door. He wanted to see the outside world from his room. He did not want to feel isolated. He had his own fears & his own demons. He would always invite me in and wanted to share his space with me. Getting ready for Festivities

Festivals!! For us expats festivals have a very deep and a strong meaning. We left our country and societies and created a new world with other expats. Festivals are very nostalgic for all of us. We try to reconnect with our own selves and our cultures whenever ever the festivities arrive. As the Dubai weather cools down, the festivals celebrations starts in full swing. Every festival means new clothes, new garments. Fashion and trend changes every year and the exhibitions reflect the mood of the society. Designers flock around the city from September onwards digging deep in the buyer’s pockets. Every year these buyers go to the exhibitions and try and buy the eye catching, very unique clothing for every festive party they need to attend. The social wannabes do not want to repeat their dresses. The pressure from social media have further surmounted on the social butterflies. “Namaste, it’s a pleasure to meet you", I greeted to an Indian lady whom I had met for the first time. "I am not a Namaste type woman, I am very happening." She replied with revulsion. “Desi” and “Behenji” are just a few of the many titles Indian girls today loathe being referred to. Certain people even dislike being greeted with a Desi salutation!  How does something simple as an ethnic greeting determine the behavior or the personality of that person? How does wishing, “Namaste!” make you less popular? I love welcoming people in “Desi Andaaz”. I consider it respectful when someone greets me with “Namaste”.
